I’m trying to embrace my kids help more. When they ask to help cook dinner I force myself to say yes even though I know it’s going to take twice as long. I know with their help there will be endless questions and there will be extra messes.
But they will learn something new. They will sit a little taller at the table knowing they helped prepare dinner. We will be spending time together making memories. And at the end of the day isn’t that what it’s all about.

I saw on 30 day blog she had made a cute printable binder with kid friendly recipes she typed up. It totally inspired me! I immediately made a list of their favorite meals that are easy to prepare with minimal ingredients. (Keep in mind my two oldest are 5 1/2 and 3 1/2….my 3rd is still in my belly but we can’t leave him out!) They are beginners so they have a lot to learn about basic measuring, common ingredients, and safe handling precautions to take when cooking. I typed up around 5 recipes (with lots of pictures) that I knew they would enjoy. I slipped the printed recipes into clear plastic protectors and put them into a binder.
That afternoon when my 5 1/2 year old got home from school I showed him their new Recipe Book. I told him I would let them be “in charge” of cooking once a week. Naturally we were all so excited to use the new recipe book and start cooking! So we did that night! They were extra cheerful as we talked, cooked, and set the table. When my husband got home they were so excited to show him what we had cooking in the oven! We thanked the kids over and over as we ate for cooking such a delicious meal and they beamed with pride! It was picture perfect really.
If you’d like to join in on the kid cooking fun you can print off these recipes I made. Or hop on over to 30 day blog and print some of hers. She mentioned she will be making many more! And with how well our cooking night went so will I.
Good luck!!! Post a pic on Facebook or Instagram of you and your cute kids cooking and tag me so I can see and hear your sweet moments too! Let’s use #kidcookingLP so we can all see each other’s posts! Let the KID COOKING memories begin!!!
