Hey everyone! Emily here.
Happy new year!
I’m so thrilled to be here and to have joined the Lacey Placey family. It was the perfect way to kick off a new year. I have a feeling 2018 is going to be AHH-MAZING!!!
So Lacey and I met just over a year ago and it was basically best friend love at first sight. We went out to dinner with a bunch of friends and after I got home from dinner, a mutual friend sent me her number. I decided to text her right away and that was all it took for our friendship to take off. We always laugh about how everyone kept telling us that we needed to meet because we were basically twins in our interest and hobbies. We both laughed it off but when we finally did meet we realized why every one had been making those comments to us. There was no denying it. An amazing friendship began and since then it’s just been one big party.
It’s not hard to see why I’m so thrilled to be working with Lacey- she’s fantastic right?? But it’s amazing to get to work and collaborate with someone you trust and respect so much. We are both so excited for this new year and all the fun things we have planned. It’s going to be incredible!
Oh and while we are talking about the new year- I just wanted to quickly share our little family party from New Year’s Eve. So we have four kids and the oldest is 8, that means midnight strikes around 8:30 pm at our house. We are those lame parents that set all the clocks in the house forward and then turn on a Netflix NYE countdown and trick our kids into going to bed early.
That being said, we did have a ton of fun. For dinner we let each kid pick their favorite non-desert food. So obviously that translated into us eating a bunch of junk food that didn’t go together at all. Our meal included mac-n-cheese (my 3-year old’s choice), chili cheese fries (my 6-year old’s choice) and pot stickers (my 8-year old’s choice). Although the food wasn’t especially amazing, the kids loved being in charge of the menu and I think it made the night memorable for them.
After dinner we just played a bunch of board games and laughed the night away.
Anyway, here is the good stuff. The stuff you came for- THE PARTY DETAILS!
Here is the party setup.
For the back board I just used a panel of wainscoting from Lowes. I use this board all the time for parties and it’s so perfect. You can decorate it in so many different ways and it stands up on it’s own. If you can’t tell, I love this board!
I cut the letters for “May your new year Sparkle and Shine” sign using my Silhouette Cameo 3.
I just used black card stock for the black lettering. Then I used gold and silver poster board for the “Sparkle” and “Shine” wording. I bought the poster board because Lacey is a genius and taught me that if you just cut the poster board down to the size you need, its way cheaper than buying the individual sheets of metallic cardstock/paper.
I quickly designed the words on silhouette studio and then my amazing cameo cut them out for me. So easy and so fast. I used Fun-tac mounting putty to hang the letters on the board. If you would like the silhouette studio files I designed for this party, grab them below.
MAY YOUR NEW YEAR
I also followed Lacey’s tutorial to make these cute party hats. Super simple and my kids loved them!
Well I loved them. But what’s not to love? Look at this party animal?
We also used these gold tinsel curtains as a backdrop for pictures. We had so much fun taking silly pictures with photo props and throwing confetti. They just have a sticky peel that you can adhere to the wall and then they hang beautifully.
We partied the night away and had a great time. I hope you all had a fantastic new year’s eve. I’m so excited for the goals we have set for the upcoming year and beyond thrilled to be working with Lacey. Here’s to a great 2018!
