Me and some of my new friends here in Arkansas threw our friend Emily the cutest Woodland Deer Baby shower! We were all so in love with this theme and couldn’t wait to put all of our ideas together. I put myself in charge of decorations and had the best time ever making it into a Woodland Deer theme! I’m so excited to break it all down for you and show you exactly what we did, what items we used, and how we put it all together! I’ve even decided to give away the letters and Banner so you can go re-create this theme for a cute pregnant Mom too!
Before I dive into each detail I want to make a list of things you might want to gather or start collecting for your Woodland Deer Baby Shower! Links and sources will all be at the very bottom of the post.
NOTE: ALL ITEMS ARE LINKED BELOW. SCROLL DOWN to the bottom of the post for links.
ITEMS YOU’LL NEED:
- Wood/Log pieces cut a couple inches thick to lay under platters
- Wildflowers (We picked ours from all around back roads)
- Pretty White roses and babys breath to add in
- Brown Paper for letters
- Faux Moss (sheets work better) Can be found at Joanns Fabric
- A few tiny Deer
- Deer Banner can be purchased from Stripes to Sparkle
- Silhouette Cameo for cutting out letters
- Semi Naked Cake (tutorial here)
- Brookside chocolates make cute “deer droppings”
- Donuts “doe-nuts”
- White Grape Fresca drink makes a pretty neutral colored drink
Okay let’s dive into the fun details!
The Woodland Deer baby shower cake was probably my favorite thing from the whole shower and it was such a pretty focal point on the table. I made a Semi Naked Cake tutorial for you last week if you want more info on that. It’s basically a blank naked cake…Then she (my cute friend Tori was in charge of the cake) put some wild greenery around the bottom of the cake. Our other friend April found the greenery on her property!! So if you make one of these…just go drive around and you’ll see beautiful wild flowers and greenery you can use! I was shocked when they told me they had picked the beautiful greenery. It was so pretty it looked like it came from a Florist! I bought a bouquet of flowers from Walmart and we pulled out the white roses, the baby’s breath and that green pine cone long thing out of the bouquet. Tori topped the cake with 3 white/cream roses and put the baby’s breath and that green thing around the flowers. I think she may have added Thyme too (I got the fresh Thyme in the produce section at Walmart). The little deer were the final touch that really made it all complete. We all searched high and low for deer for a couple weeks. Finally we just bought them on Amazon and it was totally worth it because it tied the whole theme together.
For the backdrop I took a white foam board and used my favorite crafting machine; the Silhouette, to cut the brown letters. (Pssst Silhouette is having a big sale June 1st-15th use code LACEY to get 30% off almost everything!) I got the brown paper at Joann’s fabric and while I was there purchased the green Moss sheets for the BOY letters. Here’s a separate tutorial on how to make moss letters. I cut out the saying ” Oh DEER our little BOY is almost here” on my Silhouette Cameo. There are so many cute variations of sayings you could use as well. A few ideas below!

I used tape to secure the letters to the board. The letters and board were so easy!
I know everybody sends FB invitations and Evites but there is something special about getting a pretty invite in the mail and hanging it on your fridge. I like knowing friends and family are thinking of the person the event is for each time they see it hung up in the kitchen or where ever you hang invites. Here’s a close up example invite for you to see below. I ordered these invites on Etsy from Kirra Reyna Designs . She was great to work with!
The banner was one of my favorite things! You can and should order this Banner from my friend at Stripes to Sparkle. I would recommend buying it instead of DIYing it. Trust me on this…you will have to glue on each spot, hoof, eye, ear, and nose! If you are out of time and have to do it yourself. You can buy a deer file from the silhouette store and put it all together. I am obsessed with all banners from Stripes to Sparkle and you will be too!
That’s basically all the main elements of the shower. The wood log slices we borrowed from a friend but I’d love to make a bunch of these. You just need to find a log and cut it into thin slices. For food we did Chicken Salad sandwiches in croissants, a veggie tray, a salad, “doe”nuts, brookside chocolates (the mom to be’s favorites) made cute “deer droppings” and then we had the cake and drink.
The drink is just one can of Frozen white grape juice concentrate mixed with 2 bottles of Fresca. It’s always a crowd pleaser and the pretty color is part of what I love so much!
